(ii) Results for rs1042522 genotyping: Indian patients had a higher frequency of the variant Arg-allele versus healthy Indian controls (42% versus 29%; OR=1.75, 95% CI=1.07-2.86, p=0.0275). In conclusion, patients with the MTHFR rs1801133 variant T-allele have elevated CRP levels, which can be ameliorated with methotrexate.

Influence of Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase C677T Polymorphism on High-Dose Methotrexate Toxicity in Pediatric Mature B-cell lymphoma Patients (PubMed, Zhongguo Shi Yan Xue Ye Xue Za Zhi)
The risk of developing oral mucositis in children with mature B-cell lymphoma is associated with plasma MTX concentration. Polymorphism of MTHFR C677T gene is not related to plasma MTX concentration in children with mature B-cell lymphoma, but is related to grade III to IV hematological toxicity.

Our findings indicate that these genetic polymorphisms are not only pivotal in understanding thrombophilia but also have broader implications for cardiovascular disease and cancer. This study highlights the need for further research into the combined effects of genetic and epigenetic factors on health, which could lead to improved screening and personalized preventive healthcare strategies.

Association analysis of MTHFR (rs1801133 and rs1801131) gene polymorphism towards the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Dali area population from Yunnan Province, China. (PubMed, PeerJ)
No obvious association was observed between these MTHFR polymorphisms and cardiovascular risk in T2DM. Our study suggests that the genetic variations of MTHFR C677T and A1298C are significantly associated with T2DM susceptibility in the population of the Dali area of Yunnan Province, China.

Association of MTHFR gene polymorphisms with non-Hodgkin lymphoma risk: Evidence from 31 articles. (PubMed, J Cancer)
There was no overall association between MTHFR gene polymorphisms (C677T and A1298C) and NHL risk, but stratified analyses revealed significant associations in specific subgroups. While meta-analyses inherently build upon existing studies, our work distinguishes itself by incorporating recent data, applying rigorous analytical techniques, and providing more evidence of the MTHFR C677T polymorphism as an eQTL.

According to the findings of this study, the mutant allele of the Methylene Tetra Hydro Folate Reductase C677T was detected and demonstrated varying degrees of significance. It was concluded that the MTHFR C677T gene mutation was associated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in Sudanese patients.

The combined effect of MTHFR C677T and A1298C polymorphisms on the risk of digestive system cancer among a hypertensive population. (PubMed, Discov Oncol)
These findings indicate a potential protective effect against digestive system cancer associated with the T allele of MTHFR C677T. Moreover, we observed that the presence of different combinations of MTHFR polymorphisms may contribute to varying susceptibilities to digestive system cancer.
